Director of On-Ice Programming
Jon has an extensive playing resume including two years in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Saskatoon Blades, and years with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL). After his time in junior, Jon returned to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing and Human Resources, all while playing four years for the Bisons men’s hockey team. Jon is a Certified Hockey Canada Skills Coach and brings a wealth of experience in Power Skating and Skill Development. Furthermore, Jon was selected as a skills consultant for the Hockey Canada National Teams’ Summer Showcase and is the skills coach for the MJHL’s Steinbach Pistons.
Manager of Female Player Development
Addie has an impressive playing and coaching resume. At age 15, Addie moved away from home to attend an elite female hockey school in Warner, Alberta, and captured two provincial championships during that time. Addie was then scouted to attend the University of Manitoba Bisons where she played her entire five-year University Sport career. During her time as a Bison, Addie was named team MVP three consecutive years, won two Canada West Championships, and was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2012. Addie was also selected as a member of Team Canada in 2011 for the FISU games in Erzerum, Turkey and helped the team win a gold medal. Since graduating from University, Addie has been heavily involved in coaching in the female hockey community. She spent time coaching high school hockey and time as the Assistant Coach for the University of Manitoba Bisons. Currently, Addie is the power skating and skills coach for the University of Manitoba Bisons and is a driving force for The Rink Team leading the development for our female programming.
In-Centre Program Coordinator
Jarrett played his junior hockey career for the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey league (SJHL) from 1998–2001. In his rookie season, Jarrett was awarded Rookie of The Year honors with the club. Throughout his junior hockey career, Jarrett was lucky enough to play in many championships, including The Royal Bank Cup. In his final season, Jarrett was named the Captain of the Yorkton Terriers. It was an injury during his final season with the Terriers that ended Jarrett’s career and brought him back to Winnipeg. Jarrett has been part of The Rink Team for several years and has a wealth of coaching experience in Skill Development and Power Skating with players of all ages and capabilities. Prior to joining our Team, Jarrett has had experience coaching at the Edge of Excellence hockey school as well as other hockey camps.
In-Centre Program Coordinator
Andy has an extensive playing resume including two years in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Prince Albert Raiders and Brandon Wheat Kings, as well as 3 years with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Andy returned to Winnipeg after attending Lakehead University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts while playing 4 seasons for the Thunderwolves. Andy also attended two American Hockey League (AHL) training camps with the Grand Rapids Griffins and Worcester Sharks, as well as played minor pro with the Missouri Mavericks and the Dayton Gems of the Central Hockey League (CHL). Andy has worked in the hockey industry for over 10 years instructing many different programs including Corbin Hockey School in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Andy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to The Rink Team working with players of all ages and capabilities.
Satellite Program Coordinator
Graham grew up in Morden, Manitoba, and played in their rural minor hockey programs. Graham went on to play junior hockey for the Pembina Valley Twisters of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League (MMJHL) for four seasons, and then attended Kennesaw State University on a hockey scholarship. Graham has been a member of The Rink Team for a number of years and has worked at many hockey camps. He brings a wealth of knowledge from both his playing and coaching experiences to our programming. Graham's work ethic, passion for helping, and compassion are his greatest strengths as a coach.
Program and Business Development Coordinator
Yvan has an extensive playing resume including two years in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) with the Portage Terriers. With Portage he won two league championships and appeared in the RBC Cup twice. Yvan was named an alternate captain during his second year with Portage. He was also named team top defenseman both years and team MVP his second year. After Portage, Yvan accepted a full scholarship to the University of Vermont where he was named captain for his final year. He obtained a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Community Entrepreneurship with a minor in Public Communications during his four years spent in Vermont.
Assistant Program Coordinator
Kayden brings a wealth of playing experience and knowledge to The Rink team. He played 3 years with the St. Paul’s Crusaders of the Winnipeg High School Hockey League (WHSHL) and in his final year was named team captain. After high school, Kayden joined the Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) for 2 seasons and was named assistant captain in his final year. Kayden has won the city and provincial championship twice with St. Paul’s and was also named rookie of the year with the Winkler Flyers. Kayden currently attends the University of Manitoba as an Asper School of Business student where he is working to attain his Bachelor of Commerce. Kayden looks forward to passing on his knowledge and experience as a member of The Rink Team.
Hockey Operations Assistant & RHL League Commissioner
Tyler has been a member of The Rink Team for several years working with players of all ages and skill levels. Tyler grew up playing in the Winnipeg minor hockey system. After playing AAA, he moved onto play 5 seasons of junior hockey for the St. Boniface Riels of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League (MMJHL). Tyler is a graduate from Red River College where he took Business Administration, majoring in Marketing and Sales. Furthermore, Tyler has previous experience as a fitness trainer with Elite Performance. Currently, Tyler is involved with our Rink Hockey Academy as the Hockey Operations Assistant and plays a large role in helping coordinate our Summer Development Camps.
RHA Midget Assistant Coach
Ian has an extensive playing resume including five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), which finished with a league championship and Ed Chynoweth Cup victory with the Kelowna Rockets. Ian attended the Columbus Blue Jackets’ main camp as a free agent in 2009/2010, who are members of the National Hockey League (NHL). Ian went on to join the University of Manitoba Bisons and played five full seasons with the team. After University, he played professionally for the Wichita Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). Ian joined The Rink Team in 2016 and has been greatly involved with skill development. Ian also serves as an Assistant Coach with our RHA Nationals Midget Prep team.
On-Ice Coach & Maintenance
Sean began his hockey career with the Swan Valley Stampeders of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) in 2002. He played with the club for four years before accepting a hockey scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. In River Falls, Sean played for four years before graduating with honours with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then moved back to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba where he pursued an Education degree while playing for Manitoba’s Allan Cup team, The Southeast Prairie Thunder. Upon moving back to Winnipeg, Sean has been extensively involved in developing players as a member if The Rink Team. Sean’s experience in coaching doesn’t stop there, as he has also spent time coaching spring hockey with various teams as well as having experience as an instructor at the Impact Hockey School in Brandon, Manitoba. Currently, Sean is a teacher at Starbuck School and is involved in their hockey academy as well.
Harley began playing hockey in the Winnipeg Minor Hockey system representing the APHA Rangers for several years. Harley continued his playing career with the Kelvin Klippers of the Winnipeg High School Hockey League (WHSHL) and won awards such as The Travis Price Spirit Award, Coaches Choice Award, and MVP. Currently, Harley plays for the Fort Garry Twins of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League (MMJHL) where he also serves as an assistant captain. Harley is a student at the University of Manitoba and is working to attain his Bachelor of Environmental Studies. Harley has worked at The Rink for several years and continues to bring a positive learning experience to young hockey players.
RHA Female Head Coach
Maggie has an impressive playing and coaching career. She played five full seasons with the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team and served as team captain in her final year. In 2015, Maggie represented Canada at the FISU games in Granada, Spain, and helped her country earn a silver medal. After University, Maggie moved to Sweden to play for SDE Hockey in the Swedish Women’s Hockey League (SDHL). During that time, Maggie served as an assistant captain and led the team in points. When her playing days finished, Maggie stayed in Sweden to serve as the head coach for the SDE Hockey team she played for, and to be the Chief Director of SDE’s minor female skill development. Maggie is in the process of attaining her HP1 coaching certificate, and brings a wealth of knowledge and international experience to The Rink Team.
Female Programming & Administration
Taylor has been a member of The Rink Team for many years and brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience. Taylor’s competitive hockey career includes time with the St. Mary’s Academy High School team as well as the U-18 Jr. Bisons AAA team. Taylor also has experience as a Team Leader with Hockey Manitoba and has worked alongside our Director of Female Player Development Addie Miles-Abbott at The Miles Female Hockey Day. Taylor currently attends University of Manitoba where she is working to attain her Bachelor of Kinesiology.
Marnie has lead our Learn to Skate program since we first began our services back in 2009. Marnie brings a wealth of knowledge to all of our introductory level programming. Prior to being a member of The Rink Team, Marnie taught skating for more than 10 years. Furthermore, Marnie has an extensive background as a competitive figure skater, and her passion and knowledge in skating and player development is a huge asset to our Team.
Hockey has always played a crucial role in Sydney's life. Born in the United States and moving to Canada, Sydney has played hockey her whole life including a career in the Manitoba Women's Junior Hockey League (MWJHL). Sydney is a current member of the Team Canada Bandy Program and was a part of the 2015 World Cup roster. In 2015, Sydney was a graduate player of the St. Mary’s Academy High School hockey team and continues to dedicate her efforts to the program as an Assistant Coach for the team today. One of Sydney’s best hockey memories was working with the Ohio Special Needs Program and seeing the players’ joy in learning the game of hockey. Outside of hockey, Sydney is a student at the University of Manitoba and is perusing a career in Education.
Gretta is a multi-sport athlete playing sports competitively that include hockey, golf, ultimate, and flag-football. Her efforts in her sports earned her a spot on the Under-18 Team Manitoba Flag Football. Growing up, Gretta played in the Winnipeg minor hockey system as a member of the APHA Rangers and also played with the AAA Western Warriors during the Spring seasons. One of Gretta’s best hockey memories was where she helped the Warriors capture a first-place finish and a gold medal in the North American Classic tournament. Gretta is now dedicating her time on growing female hockey at the grassroots level as a member of The Rink Team.
Jeremy has had a very successful hockey career, winning two Winnipeg AAA league championships; one with the Winnipeg Hawks and one with the Winnipeg Sharks. In his last season of Midget AAA hockey, Jeremy was selected to the all-star team. Currently, Jeremy is playing for the St. James Canucks of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League (MMJHL) while pursuing a post-secondary education at the University of Manitoba. Furthermore, Jeremy is a long-time Rink trained player who continues to put in hard work and dedication into his playing career. Jeremy has been a member of The Rink team for a number of years and is greatly involved in many of our programs.
