Connor Hamonic- Winkler Flyers

As the Winkler Flyers regular season comes to a close the team handed out their year end awards last week. This seasons Top Defensive player award went out to defensemen Connor Hamonic. Connor is in his third season with the Flyers and is their team captain. Hamonic finished the season with 27 points, including 3 goals. Connor is a player that the Flyers depend on nightly to shut down the other teams top offensive threats. Congrats Connor!

Scott Gall- Winkler Flyers

Continuing with the Winkler Flyers, leads us to the play of Scott Gall. Scott has had an awesome year setting career highs. Last week he registered 3 goals in 2 games in a pair of wins for the Flyers. Gall who has 61 points, sits 10th in overall league scoring and 6th in goals with 34. The Flyers will be looking for Gall to continue his scoring ways as the playoffs begin.

Scott took part in the Junior Pro Group over the Summer at The Rink.

Larissa Martyniuk- Syracuse Orange

The Syracuse Orange womens hockey team had an eventful ending to their season. The team made it to the CHA Championship after a thrilling 3 OT win over Penn State, but ultimately losing out in the final. A large contributor to Syracuse's tournament success was junior Defensemen Larissa Martyniuk. Larissa being a junior is in her third year with the Orange, serving as an assistant captain. Larissa had 3 assists over the weekend, combined with her 13 assists over the season. Her leadership and strong defensive play makes her a valuable assest to the team.

Larissa took part in the NCAA Female Prep Group over the Summer at The Rink.


Marcus & Nolan Sekundiak- Oak Park Raiders

The Oak Park Raiders Mens Hockey Team in the Winnipeg High School League, wrapped up an impressive season by capturing the league title this past week. Leading the way for the Raiders were the Sekundiak brothers. Marcus, who is a Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Blues draft pick, finished the year with 41 points and chipped in with 11 playoff points. His Brother Nolan, a strong, hard nosed defensemen finished the season with 20 points, and helped out with 3 points in the post season. Both players played big parts in different roles on route to helping Oak Park once again reach the pinnacle winning the league championship. Congrats boys!

Spring is a time for players to make improvements in their individual skills and develop their game. The Rink is offering weekly development programs for players looking to stay on the ice and build off the momentum of their winter season and look to go into summer!

We couldn't be more proud to announce that The Rink Hockey Academy will begin next year playing in the CSSHL! The Rink will feature a Bantam and Midget team, with students attending Shaftesbury High School.
