Morgan Geekie

Morgan Geekie, a product from Strathclair, Manitoba, is entering his first full pro season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Charlotte Checkers. Geekie was a 3rd Round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Morgan spent his junior career in the WHL playing for the Tri-City Americans.

Morgan trains in our Pro Group during the summer with our Rink Professionals.

Mark Liwiski

Mark Liwiski is in the midst of his first full major junior season, suiting up for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Mark, who resides in Dauphin, Manitoba was originally a 3rd round draft pick of the Everett Silvertips but was dealt to Kelowna this past off-season. Prior to this season, Liwiski spent time with the OCN Blizzard of the MJHL and played midget hockey out of Parkland for the Rangers.

Mark trains in our R1 Junior program during the summer months.

Colin Burston

Colin Burston is currently in his second season with Brown University in the ECAC of the NCAA. Burston, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, scored his first career collegiate goal this past month. Before attending Brown University, Colin spent time time both in the USHL with the Fargo Force, and than in the BCHL with the Wenatchee Wild. Burston played his Midget hockey out of Wilcox, Saskatchewan with the Notre Dame Hounds program.

Colin trains in our R1 Junior program during the summer months.

Nakodan Greyeyes

Nakodan Greyeyes is playing in his first year of junior hockey with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). Greyeyes is a graduate of the Rink Hockey Academy where he spent the last last two seasons a part of the Midget Prep team. In 2016, Nakodan was a 6th round pick (117 overall) by the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL, and was a 6th overall pick in the 
MJHL Draft by the OCN Blizzard.

Kayla Friesen

Kayla Friesen is currently in the middle of her third season at St. Cloud State University. This season she had the honour of being named team captain. Before attending SCSU to play for the Huskies, Kayla attended St. Mary's Academy playing for their Prep program. Kayla has also represented  Team Canada in the past by playing in the 2016 IIHF World Under-18 Championships. 

Kayla trains in our Female R1 Group during the summer.

Canada Winter Games Shout Outs!

The Rink is proud to have an excellent representation of players that will be participating in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta. The rosters for the games were named this past month and we want to wish the following players the best of luck!

Team Maniotba U18 Female- Rebecca Thiessen,  Karine Sandilands, Olivia Cvar and Rorie Ringor. 

Team Manitoba U16 Male- Cole Assailly, Aidan Brook, Tayem Gislason, Carson Lambos, Rory Neill, Hudson Thornton, Eric Alarie, Skyler Bruce, Trent Crane, Conor Geekie, Cabrel Labossiere and Justin Lies.
