Stelio Mattheos- Team Canada U17 Development Camp
After wrapping up his season with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the playoffs, Stelio Mattheos is now trying to impress the Team Canada brass at the U17 Development Camp taking place in Calgary, Alberta.
Over the weekend teams play in a 3 game tournament. Mattheos had a great 3 games where he registered 4 goals and 1 assist in his three games placing him 3rd in the tournament for points and tied for 1st in goals.
Stelio battled through injuries this year with the Winnipeg Wild but was able to get healthy to finish the year in the WHL. Having strong performance in Calgary this past weekend will only boost his confidence moving forward this season in Brandon.
Our busy summer will continue over the next 5 weeks with camps going on at a couple different locations next week alone.
Next week our NCAA College Prep, Junior Pro & Junior Prep groups head over to River Heights Arena to complete their summer academy.
Here at the centre Summer Camps become full day with Stick handling covered in the morning and shooting covered in the afternoon next week. Lastly, our satellite team makes their way out to River Heights Arena as well for the Battle and Compete Camp.
We look forward to seeing all the players who are taking part in our programs the next 5 weeks of summer!
Another member of the Rink Team had a great outing at the Team Canada U17 Development Camp.
Hayden Ostir who played last season for the Winnipeg Wild in the MBAAA league had 1 goal and 1 assist in his 3 games at the camp in Calgary.
Hayden was also part of Team White, who were the U17 Tournament champions. Hayden will be looking to play in Spokane this year with the Chiefs in the WHL.
After an impressive showing at the Development Camp, Ostir will take this momentum to camp later this month.
